Synthetic Rope Breakage
TBT to synthetic rope breakage. MYTH: Synthetic winch rope falls to the ground when it breaks. Well, the truth is, sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn’t. This video was sent to us from our friend and GenRight Off Road Ambassador Jeff Perkins. In this particular case, the synthetic winch rope broke suddenly without warning and the recoil was significant. Sure, there is less energy stored when compared to a steel cable, but you still would not want get hit with this rope.

There are no shortcuts to proper product development. The new Load Distribution Plate product is a good example of this. Although we have lab and field tested this product ourselves, we also rely on trained professionals to test and provide feedback on product performance. How many iterations of product design does it take?
We do it for the military, we do it for you.
We do it for the military, we do it for you. At Factor 55, we have always stood for quality and safety. It’s the reason why our winch shackle mount products are machined here in Idaho by American workers sourcing American materials. Foreign materials are definitely cheaper but they are also dangerously unpredictable in material properties. Yield and Ultimate strengths can vary wildly, not the type of material properties you want in highly loaded vehicle recovery rigging. Whenever you are purchasing critical rigging hardware, do yourself and those around you a favor and spend some time researching where these products are being manufactured. Unfortunately the vehicle pulling industry is mostly unregulated and consequently the market is full of low quality untested rigging. As a start, look for the country of origin. Caveat Emptor

Why buy vehicle recovery products sourced from USA materials, engineered, and MADE IN THE USA?
Predictable performance under extreme loads. There are no surprises when extreme loads are applied to FACTOR 55 products. We follow a sound engineering process here at FACTOR 55. Take a look at a Finite Element Model version of our rope retention pulley. 75,000 pounds is applied in this mathematical model and results are analyzed, models are adjusted prior to cutting any metal in the machine shop or lab testing physical models. These product development steps cannot be short cut if you want truly engineered and tested vehicle recovery products with repeatable results. We’ve said this before, vehicle recovery is an inherently dangerous process and not a place to save a bit of money by purchasing untested cheap imported rigging. So, where is your vehicle recovery rigging made? FACTOR 55 – Engineered, Tested, and MADE IN THE USA
